​- Hosting Various Events Such as the ‘Gangneung Art Festival,’ ‘Dance to the Poetry (詩) of Heo Nanseolheon (許蘭雪軒) in Gangneung,’ etc. -

 Various exhibitions and art and cultural performances of representative local artists of Gangneung, a city of culture and art,

 Various arts events have been prepared to make citizens aware of the value of local culture and arts and to provide them with useful things to see and enjoy through the use of interesting local cultural content.

 Starting with the opening event of the ‘53rd Gangneung Art Festival,’  various performances and exhibitions of nine branches under the umbrella of the Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organization of Korea (FACO) will be held at the Gangneung Arts Center, small theatres, Songjeong Beach, etc., until September 30 (Sat).

    The opening ceremony of the Gangneung Arts Festival was held at the outdoor plaza of the Gangneung Arts Center at 5 P.M. on September 12 (Tues), hosted by the Gangneung Branch of the FACO (Chairman Park Seon-ja), allowing visitors to enjoy Koran creative dance performances, as well as performances and visual arts that highlighted the characteristics of each of the FACO's branches.

    In addition, 'Dance to the Poetry (詩) of Heo Nanseolheon (許蘭雪軒) in Gangneung,' organized by the Chohui Dance Group (Director Hong Gwang-im), will be held at Saimdang Hall, Gangneung Arts Center, on September 16 (Sat) at 5 P.M.

   The performance, combined with poetry and traditional Korean dance, is based on the life of Heo Nanseolheon (許蘭雪軒), a historical figure in Gangneung. It is poetry represented by dance through the craftsmanship of traditional Korean arts utilizing local cultural resources.

   The '18th Gangneung Moonlight Festival,' organized by the Gangneung Branch of the Gangwon People Artist Federation (Chairman Hwang Sang-cheol), will be held with a variety of programs at the central plaza of Gyeongpo Beach on September 29 (Fri), the day of Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving Day).

   Homecomers and tourists will be able to enjoy wonderful music and performances, and local artists' enjoyable performances and folk games, such as a crafting experience, tuho (traditional Korean target game), yutnori (playing yut[BF1] ), etc., will run from 7 P.M. and 2 P.M., respectively.

 An official from Gangneung City said, “We hope that the many art events that will be held in Gangneung will fertilize the minds of visitors, and that they will find time to unite with their family members and friends through the arts. In addition, we will continue to make efforts to create a variety of performances that can identify Gangneung as a cultural brand image."
