- From Friday the 27th, enjoy three days of various noodle dishes on Wolhwa Street. -

   Gangneung City will hold the 2023 Gangneung Noodle Festival for three days, from the 27th (Friday) to the 29th (Sunday), where you can enjoy representative noodle dishes such as ongsimi (cold buckwheat noodles), jangkalguksu (hand-cut noodles), and makguksu (buckwheat noodles) and savor the new side of Gangneung with various spectacles and activities.

      ​This festival, held on Wolhwa Street, is being held for the second time this year, will unfold under the theme of the "New faces of Gangneung's noodles that you haven't seen before."

      ​Centered around Gangneung's diverse noodle culture, the festival offers a space where you can taste everything from buckwheat noodle kimbap, fusion ramen, and cream ongsimi pasta, to different and creative noodle dishes all in one place.

   ​On the 27th (Friday) at 12:00 PM at the Wolhwa Street event venue, starting with the opening cooking show by Gangneung City's Local Food Research Institute, various events will take place for visitors to enjoy, such as a noodle competition, quiz events, busking performances, and noodle cinema screenings.

      ​Furthermore, the daily noodle competition held during the festival will feature on-the-spot cooking competitions, noodle eating contests, noodle making competitions, and more, all with on-site registration. Additionally, various participatory programs such as noodle slime making, noodle mold crafting, broth pack making, face painting, and more will be available.

      In addition to the event venue, the Noodle Map allows visitors to directly sample Gangneung's representative noodle dishes by visiting noodle restaurants throughout Gangneung (a total of 137 locations). If you bring more than three receipts, you can exchange them for souvenirs through the Noodle Roadmap Tour.

   ​Since this is an event where you can personally taste various noodle dishes, efforts will be made to ensure a pleasant environment by rigorously maintaining hygiene while minimizing the use of disposable items. To make the festival environmentally friendly, disposable containers will be collected after use.

   ​A Gangneung city official stated, "We will do our best to enhance the value of Gangneung, a city rich in culinary delights, as a tourism product and establish the Noodle Festival as a sustainable flagship event."
