- Seven Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in the Community under the Supervision of the Gangneung Export Association -​

   Gangneung announced that the first cargo was loaded on the ship and would be exported to Russia at 11:00 am on Nov. 30 (Thu.).

   ​The Gangneung Export Association, led by Chairperson Lee Seok-jae, held an inaugural assembly last month and recently promoted the Gangneung Product Overseas Sales Event in Russia. This move was part of the association’s effort to turn around the gloomy export conditions for small and medium-sized companies in Gangneung. Their efforts led to a valuable achievement, which was the first export of seven small businesses in the community through Okgye Port.

   ​‘Gangneung products’, to be exported to Russia through Okgye port, will be available at a shop-in-shop, a local distribution store for ten(10) days from Dec. 10 (Sun.)

     ​After its first service, providing a regular route to Japan for international containers starting on Aug. 18, 15 international trade vessels made port at Okgye Port, importing more than 1,500 TEU.

    ​With the start of its first export to Russia, the port became a trade port, facilitating imports and exports. Moreover, Gangneung explained that the port marks a milestone in the city's journey to become a central economic city that features maritime complex logistics connecting national future industrial complexes.

    ​The official from Gangneung said, "Today is a meaningful day as local businesses in our region are exporting their first products through Okgye Port.” He also added, "Looking ahead into the next 100 years, we will do our best to turn the vision of ‘Gangneung, the Economic City on the Maritime Silk Road’into reality.”

   ​ What is notable is that with the success of its first special sales event in Russia, the Gangneung Export Association plans to expand its market to Southeast Asia, the Americas, and other regions in the future.
