Gangneung Tea Association (Chairperson Kwon Young-ok) will run the ‘Chohee Traditional Tea Experience Center’ from Thursday 20th, offering visitors a chance to experience the beauty of traditional tea and tea culture.

At the Traditional Tea Experience Center visitors can taste traditional green tea and learn about tea brewing and tea ceremony etiquette under the guidance of tea masters, immersing themselves in the deeper meaning of the tea ceremony. Traditional snacks to complement the tea will also be served to enrich the experience.

The Experience Center is open for a fee every Thursday to Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additionally, once or twice a month (on Wednesdays) free tea and snack experiences for local citizens will also be offered.

Heo Dong-uk, Director of Cultural Heritage, said, “We hope this experience will offer families a chance to connect over a cup of tea, and we ask for your continued interest and participation in the Traditional Tea Experience Center again this year.”

Meanwhile, applications are being accepted for artists and cultural groups to use the tea ware exhibition space within the memorial hall. Reservations can be made for between April 1 and December 31 for exhibitions lasting two weeks per artist or group, with a one-week extension possible.

Information about applying can be found on the Gangneung City Hall website under City News Notices, or for more information contact the Cultural Heritage and Cultural Heritage Utilization Department (033-640-5373).
